In our latest Journey to Legacy podcast episode, we sat down with Anne Alexander-Sieder, an accomplished actor and transformation coach who helps people turn their passions into sustainable careers. Her story of reinvention and the insights she shares offer valuable lessons for anyone looking to make a significant career change or pursue their dreams.
After moving to Munich, Germany, and taking a 16-year hiatus from professional acting, Anne found herself at a crossroads. When her teenage son began choosing friends over their regular movie nights, she faced a moment many parents recognize – the realization that it was time to rediscover herself.
This led her to Google "acting workshop Munich English" and attend a three-day workshop that would change everything. As Anne describes it, it felt like she had been "trying to breathe underwater for 16 years" and finally found her element again.
Faced with the challenge of limited access to high-quality acting training in Munich, Anne created an innovative solution. Instead of frequently flying to major acting hubs like LA, New York, or London, she:
Reached out to renowned acting coaches
Convinced them to come to Munich
Organized workshops for other actors
Built a thriving community in the process
What started as a way to get affordable training transformed into a successful business model, generating $1,000-2,000 per workshop while providing valuable opportunities for other actors.
Anne shares several powerful insights for anyone considering a career change or pursuing their passions:
"You have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable because your big dreams are not waiting for you inside your comfort zone," Anne emphasizes. The confidence comes from taking action, not from preparation.
Don't wait for perfect conditions or complete expertise. Begin where you are, acknowledge your current level, and focus on improvement.
Building a supportive community is crucial when making significant life changes. Anne considers this one of her five pillars for success, alongside mindset, branding, marketing, and networking.
According to Anne, mindset represents 80% of success in any endeavor. She recommends her "catch, cancel, correct" method for handling negative thoughts and self-doubt.
Today, Anne runs two successful programs:
Get Better Roles: Helping trained actors advance their careers
Passion Project to Pro: Teaching others how to turn their interests into sustainable businesses without becoming coaches or influencers
For Anne, legacy is about impact – touching lives and helping others find meaning in their own journeys. Whether through acting, teaching, or coaching, she believes everyone has the potential to make a difference, whether it's touching 10 lives or a million.
"As human beings, what we all want is to touch someone's life, to make a difference in one form or another," she reflects. Her work continues to help others discover their potential and create meaningful impact in their own ways.
